Tussar silk, also called wild silk, is obtained from the tussar silk moth Antheraea militia, which is fed leaves other than mulberry, thereby producing the wild silk fabric at a comparatively cheaper cost. Unlike Mulberry Silk, Tussar Silk cloth is not a cultivated variety of silk. Tussar, or Kosa silk, is one of the most convenient fabrics to drape. Tussar silk feels rich and regal, yet it is one of the lightest fabrics. What’s more, its porous nature makes it cooler than other silks, making it perfect for people living in warmer parts of the world.
Tussar saree boasts a pallu adorned with intricate hand-embroidered cut work, complemented by stunning Shibori or Batik Kalamkari painting. The artistic rendition features beautiful hand-painted designs of deer alongside exquisite Paisley motifs, showcasing a blend of cultural artistry and handcrafted elegance, ideal for those seeking sophistication and artistic flair in their attire.
